    • SENIOR APPAREL DESIGNER - TECHNICAL OUTERWEAR / APPAREL / SOFTGOODS

      Job Description
      Industry leading apparel / softgoods design firm searching for highly-motivated, talented and creative individuals who can work in a dynamic fast-paced creative environment. As a Senior Designer you will be responsible for using your strong design skills and background to create unique collections of product. You will work with the Design Director and a team of product designers. In your role as a Senior Designer you will work with the Development team to continuously enhance performance, fit, and function. You will create and design products with an understanding of cost, fabrics, fit, and function.

      Key Responsibilities & Duties

      • Report to the Director of Design.
      • Manage design for multiple clients simultaneously.
      • Simultaneously oversee the design of multiple seasons.
      • Translate market and user input into innovative commercial designs.
      • Deeply understand client needs to create compelling visual line plans.
      • Create client specific color and concept boards.
      • Produce inspirational direction; create concept sketches, 2D designs, and tech packs for each style.
      • Work with materials, color, and trims to design cost-effective products.
      • Understand cost and apparel production to develop cost-efficient and innovative product designs.
      • Maintain timelines, targeted price points and project budgets.
      • Daily management of design calendars.

      Essential Skills & Requirements

      • Bachelor’s degree in fashion, product, or softgoods design
      • 5+ years of experience in softgoods / apparel design
      • Strong knowledge of apparel, fashion terminology, the product development process, and textiles
      • 100% proficient in Adobe Illustrator a must
      • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects on an ongoing basis
      • A leader who is able to receive and give strong honest critique
      • Excellent presentation skills, both written and verbal
      • In-depth understanding of merchandising seasonal trend and brand awareness
      • Excellent organizational and time management skills with appropriate sense of urgency
      • Ability to work in a team environment, build trust and relationships with customers and company staff
      • Demonstrates self-control and resilience in stressful situations
      • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing work environment
      • Strong interpersonal and listening skills

      Experience
      We are especially interested in candidates who have strong backgrounds in softgoods or apparel design. The ideal candidate for the role will have spent 5+ years working as a sportswear, gloves, bags, or outerwear designer. He/she will be used to be working as part of a team alongside product developers and clients. He/she will also be trend aware and be able to introduce new designs, influences and processes to the firm.
